Position: ERA Chair Team Member – Junior Researcher

Research Focus: Bioactive compounds and functional foods

Alexa Pérez Alva received her Ph.D. in Food Science (2023) at Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP), where she worked on the identification of polyphenols and carotenoids from algae and their utilization to develop functional food products.

Building upon the knowledge gained through her doctoral studies, she has focused her research on analyzing the bioavailability of bioactive compounds following digestion, as well as their in-vitro properties after being incorporated into food products.
